April 21, 2005Amsterdam Diary IIIPosted 5 years, 10 months ago on April 21, 2005 Got a local guide -- a friend of a Toronto friend! Basically learnt how to sit at a cafe, enjoy a cup of tea, and watch people pass by. Also appreciated how visitor/newcomer friendly most cities are! For example, you can just drop by a bar or coffee place and just play pool with strangers.Rule for pool is basically put down coins on the pool lining and wait for your turn. Winner get to stay for next game and loser have to give newcomer his/her turn. Incoming pays for the coin-operated pool -- i.e. winner don't pay. I like just sitting and enjoying my cup of tea. It's so nice just to sit and watch people. I also learnt that Apr. 30th is the Queen's B-day and there will be a huge celebration! From what the local says, the street is just filled with people and it's hard to move. No trams (the public transit), cars, nor bikes that day in the city center. The trams will stop just outside of the city and then turn back. No comments, be the first! |
