September 18, 2005Germany DiaryPosted 5 years, 4 months ago on September 18, 2005 Well, I spent 1 week in Ulm. It was a mining town prior to the technology takeover. So, you shouldn't be surprised to hear that there's a mining museum! The museum is alright ... did I mention that I'm not the museum type? They leave you in the underground to tour the old mine & equipments. This can take around 2 hours. Then, they bring you all the way up to the building so you can REALLY appreciate the fresh air! The top was SO delightful that I think most of us stayed there for 30 minutes to 1 hour despite the strong wind Thereafter, they bring you to the above-ground history/picture room in the building. Quite nicely planned, I think! The highlight of the trip though is my encounter of a small park/garden closeby the museum but not part of the museum. I should really say gardens as it contains multiple plots. Each plot is cared for by a family, it seems. At first, I thought perhaps those are just the front yards but I kept staring at those really small houses and wonder how a family could fit in there! But, it was absolutely wonderful! They seems to welcome visitors as they provide benches just outside the fence for visitors to sit & relax. Quite a nice environment! No comments, be the first! |
